Article 3: Being sensitive to Art

Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” Thomas Merton

Some people walk into a gallery and just see colors and shapes. Others feel the room shift inside them. They pause, they breathe differently, and for a moment they’re not thinking, they’re sensing. If this is you, know that this is not a weakness. It’s a gift.
To be sensitive to art is to live with open pores. It means being touched by subtleties others might overlook. A brushstroke, a line of poetry, a haunting melody, they don’t just entertain you; they echo inside. They stay with you.
Art speaks to us in a language beyond logic. It bypasses reason and goes straight to the heart. It reminds us of what we carry, of what we long for. It creates bridges between people.
Sometimes, the world tries to harden us. It tells us to be productive, to be strong, to be practical. But the sensitive ones, the ones who get goosebumps from a piano chord, who feel deeply moved by handmade things, they carry the soul of the world.
If you’re one of them, don’t shrink. Feel it all. Let it move you. Because in a world that often forgets how to feel, your sensitivity is a quiet form of courage.
